If you also belong to the school of thought that believes that good looking women have better chances of getting a job then you might need to think again. A recent survey suggests that beautiful women are often subjected to discrimination, especially for jobs that are considered to be masculine or jobs where looking good may not be a necessity factor.
You must be wondering what sort of jobs are these where beautiful women are not considered suitable. These jobs are generally managerial jobs in the field of finance, research and development, construction, engineering, security, hardware and so on.
This report was published in the Journal of Social Psychology and it has been established that being beautiful are generally stereotyped to the jobs of receptionists or secretaries. It is a rather strange finding for most people who thought that beauty was in fact a great help to get a job rather than a handicap.
Stephanie Johnson, who headed this research, says, in spite of these findings there are other researches that prove that beauty both in the case of men and women always enhanced the chances of bagging the jobs as compared to their not so pretty counterparts. Not only in the case of jobs, good looking people generally get benefits in most spheres of life, be it pay hike, promotions, trials or education.
So, although this study suggests that beautiful women might have problems in getting certain types of jobs, but overall they tend to hold the advantage over their counterparts.
