food craving

With summer about to set in everyone is gearing up to enjoy the summer sun in the beach or by a poolside. But there are many for whom the focus is not on enjoying the lazy summer days but it is to shed that extra bit of flab they have acquired. It is time to diet and get in shape. But dieting in itself is a big challenge and when you also have food cravings it makes it impossible to diet. Food craving is referred to a condition where you have intense desire to eat certain food items. You feel like eating even when you are not hungry and desire to eat is extremely strong.

Food craving is a fairly common phenomenon, but researchers have found a correlation between food craving and certain types of food items. It has been found that when we have food craving we do not just want to eat anything but there are certain food that we desire to eat. The reason behind these cravings has been found out to be that we have fond images of the food that we crave to eat. Such cravings could have serious implications leading to obesity and other related diseases.

Reports suggest that the same technique of imagining food can be used in the opposite direction too. People suffering from food cravings were asked to imagine about other objects like the rainbow etc. They were even asked to imagine odor of some foul smelling animal. The results were very positive as there was a considerable decrease in food craving.
